These projects make up over 35,000 hours production experience from commercials

I began in the film industry grip and electrical
departments working my way into camera and lighting where I have been for
the past nearly two decades. I worked in the camera or lighting departments of the following films.
Commercials are like mini features in that each one
is an opportunity to create a tiny work of art. These projects are short,
usually a couple of days. So, unlike features, work is complete and
ready for the world to see in a few weeks rather than months. That's nearly instant gratification!
Covering musical events, particularly concerts and
music videos is my first love. There's something about live switched music
that really gets the juices flowing. Music videos, on the other hand, provide
a chance for unbridaled creativity in short periods of time.

News is the ultimate 'down and dirty' photography.
But what it requires is the ability to be ready at all times. There is
no second chance to get it right. What a rush, but not for the inexperienced.
Talk about your adrenaline rush; shooting sports
is photography with the added element of danger and the need to be ready
at all times. Missing a single play can mean missing a score necessary
for the news or a show that night. And keeping alert can mean getting hurt
or not.
Documentaries usually provide not nearly as much
time as is needed to be comfortable. The shooter has to move quickly because
documentaries involve interviewing real people as opposed to actors who
don't expect to take a long time in front of the camera.

In either case, I've worked with interesting people from all over the world and I have gained a rounded knowledge of the whole business from each experience.

The live event not unlike television news provides
only one chance to get it right. In many ways, this makes live events harder
to cover than commercials or features that can allow a lot of time to play
with a shot or fix things in post. The live event demands that everything
be
set well before the event begins because once it does there's usually no
stopping to change anything.
